Homework, Homework and what? More homework?

I'm excited about my classes, really I am. I like my teachers, the students are great but really, do we have to have so much homework? How do people with 3, 4, 5 or more classes handle it? It must be a full-time job to be a full-time student. How do those students support themselves? And where do they find time to have some fun? I'm having a hard time finding time to have some fun and all work and no fun make me a sad girl. Well, not sad so much as boring. Yea, definitely boring.
I've got a study parter (I was gonna type "study buddy" - tee hee). Hopefully we can keep each other on our toes and get things done. I'm not used to typing my homework and emailing and getting on Blackboard and sending stuff that way. Things have changed in 25 years. Scary, huh? 25 years. Okay, this post is boring me to tears. I'll stop yawning and go to bed.

4 Days Off

A vacation day, two RDOs, and an IAM makes for a nice break from the CS grind. How long, I wonder, do I have to stay at the Union Hall today? Can I sneak out after 4 hours? After 6? Please tell me I don't have to stay for the entire 8. I've got to go to bed early so I can arise at an ungodly hour with the birds and the bees and the bugs.
I attended my school's orientation on Wednesday; felt a little old but teenagers have a lot of energy (which I need) and hopefully they can help me with my homework if I need it. I got my student ID and my books - I'm ready to go!
Yesterday I spoke with Luba, a librarian at the library where my Mum works part-time. It was very encouraging talking with her and it is possible that in a year or so I could be working there part-time. I hope that in a year or so the library in my town will be expanded and I will be working there. It's oh so much closer!
Mum and I went to a Scrapbooking Expo yesterday. There is so much creativity going on in scrapbooking, it's amazing. I heard an announcement for a scrapbooking retreat!! WTF is that? Who knew? I see my future: librarian who attends scrapbooking retreats and cruises; lives with cats; recycles.

Back to work

I've just had two months off (sick leave, don'tchaknow) and after a week back at "the old grind" I know that this is not the job for me. Thank goodness I've enrolled in school. Classes start in two weeks and I'm looking forward to it. I just have to remember that the job is a paycheck and benefits and things don't change and I can't change 'em. I'm saying the Serenity Prayer a lot and trying to keep my sense of humor. Easier said than done sometimes.

I got a new computer!

This is so exciting. I've got a Dell computer with Windows Vista and I don't think I'll be straying far from the spare room in the next few days. Right now I'm watching and listening to MSNBC's reports on the bridge collapse in Minneapolis. How does a bridge collapse? I'm curious to know. Reminds me of when the elevated highway collapsed in San Francisco but that was due to an earthquake, right? Anyway, some goods news with the bad, I guess.
